Default Infringement of Copyright Notice - 'Two Worlds'

I received a letter from ACS Law in London today asking me for £665 for infringement of copyright. As a middle-aged man, I didn't even know how BitTorrent works - my nephew had to tell me. I Googled and found your site, and read about this company Logistep who are providing information about IP addresses of alledged illegal software sites. I could really do with some advice. To the best of my knowledge, no-one in this house has ever been a BitTorrent client. It's possible that my son may have done something, although I doubt it as he has been read the riot act, and aside from being 17 at the time of the alledged offence (January 2008) is travelling in India and is out of contact, so I can't ask him. I am a software engineer, and I know how I can fake an IP address, so my first thought is that I am the victim of such a scam that could potentially have landed me in a lot of hot water.

This all seems to have gone quiet since last year - I can't find anyone else who has had a similar letter recently. I'd like to know how others have dealt with this situation before.

Please help. I'm terrified that I'm going to be ruined.

I'd ignore it. Sounds like a scam, first off that amount of the fine is much too low to be legitimate, secondly most infringement letters are passed to your ISP then to you, only threatening to cancel your internet service if you continue to infringe.

Also received a letter this morning from ACS LAW saying i downloaded a game called DREAM PINBALL 3D last year on the 21/5/08, and they are asking for £665 for it not to go to court. I have 21 days to respond and pay. I dont like pinball and would not download it. Any help what to do now as i dont have that sort of money. PLEASE HELP.
