Im well away from them but I was looking through the letters I received and a few things seem a bit iffy

Its signed "Acs Law" why not Andrews name... and on the payment form it says "Payers name"

Now Ive had a fair few debt letters in my short stay on this planet but never have I had payers name written maybe Payees name. There is also no reference number there is a our ref but not a your ref and most debt letters have those.

Lol I may just be looking to far into it at the moment

Acs Law in london at the Hanover Square address is a ligit address as it is listed on the The National Will Daterbase. Also Andrew J.Crossley of ACS LAW London defended the sex on the beach couple in Dubai last year British 'sex on the beach' couple spared jail and allowed to return home - Times Online

Think ive p=][-d the receptionist off a bit by keep calling. ive now been told i will not be put through to andrew today and to try tomorrow morning. ive also wrote a letter regarding the letter i was sent.

its also true... where is the reference number?
Why have virgin media not contacted its customers first regarding any action taken against them?

after a little research i found this...

Codemasters Set Lawyers Loose on BitTorrent Colin McRae Fans | TorrentFreak

(sorry if ppl have linked to it already)..

it would seem this 'scheme' is semi-legal at best. i will be seeking legal advice but NOT replying to any letters.

(the ultimate irony is i BOUGHT the damn game later on Xbox LOL)

You would think your ISP would send you some sort of info to let you know certain party's are/have requesting your details ...

Seems to me if this is not a scam then the ISP`s are at fault as much as Logistep or what ever there called as well as this "Acs Law" as they have our details which I am not best pleased about and could be passed elsewere

Angry

at last guys.... virgin media got back via email....

Dear Mr. Kay

Virgin Media was served with a court order for many IP addresses that legally compelled us to carry out traces and in return provide the name and address details for the identified customers.

Given that you have received a letter from a law firm, we would recommend that you consult with a Solicitor for further advice.

Regards

F Bunni
Virgin Media

seems we all better start taking this more serious

Thumbs down

I also received this letter today

Sayint that I had downloaded the game on 3rd Febuary 2008 @ 10:03 (or something like that).

I dont know if I did or didnt as it was so long ago but I bought the game just a little while after that date so I wouldnt have thought I had (the game is terrible, wouldnt have bought it if Id played it before)

They are demanding Cash of me so I rang the number and I was told the same as everyone else, that they would get back to me.

I was shitting myself this morning as I didnt want to pay the cash but felt I couldnt afford for it to go to court even though I know Im in the right.

I find it strange that they are asking for your credit card details also.

Spoke to the police about this and they have received a lot of calls about this already.

Just hope this isnt genuine though

just searched for ACS Law and they are showing up as

There are many things here that don't add up to me, many of them all ready mentioned, but one thing I can't understand is why anyone would request money from you and then place a single typed page with 4 methods of payment, 2 of which require you to write down your 3 digit security code! Who in thier right mind would ever do that and who would expect someone to do that? The letter itself is odd to say the least, even such that they have stated that my name is removed and Dear Sir or Madam added due to the large volume of correspondence, yet they manage to get my name on the letter everywhere else? I also believe it is extremely odd that my own ISP has not contacted me at all over this not even to notify me I will be recieving a letter shortly from a law firm.

tbh at the moment I'm at a loss what to do, there are lots of conflicting views and information here and none of it truly adds up. Maybe a solicitor is the best course of action here? Anyone know a good one :P

I understand everyone is panicking about this. I am too but please read the posts fully.

As stated in an earlier post

ACS Law are no longer a company, according to companies house they are now disolved so they cannot be taking any of us to court.

Also the address you have stated in London is not the registered business address of ACS Law. I have posted the original address of the law firm, it is in Manchester.
