Default Is Anonymous P2P Needed?

I think it is. Chances of getting splatted by the law tiny with BT etc. When I was five on school trips I had my name and address pinned to my coat. This is like what ordinary p2p users do when they are downloading.

Anonymous p2p software like Dargens p2p are as fast as BT but private.

See screen print below:

The big draw backs are finding people to connect to and the fact that it is new.

Is it really anonymous? I realise that people outside of the network can't see inside, but can users that are sharing with other see IP addresses? This looks pretty good anyway. I'm looking for alternatives to sharing with friends over msn messenger because that can be unreliable. Are there any similar programs that are not browser based?

Talking Anonymous P2P

Every node in an Dargens P2P network acts as a universal sender and universal receiver to maintain anonymity.

If a node was only a receiver and did not send, then neighbouring nodes would know that the information it was requesting was for itself only, removing any plausible deniability that it was the recipient (and consumer) of the information.

Thus, in order to remain anonymous, nodes must ferry information for others on the network.

With Dargens you connect to friends (you can send invites) and yet share (download) with (from) everyone on the network.

There are loads of anonymous networks see anonymous p2p org

Is it really safe? Don't you see the IPs? In the site they say it's safe because it never connects directly client to client sharing but first by another like the proxy system ... But yet, if the cops check the IPs, even if they don't see yours directly they still see IPs in the network anyway as these "proxies" are other users ... Confused.

And an important matter: how users are there on? If there's not many people you can't except to find all the files you want.

Default Anonymous P2P

Dargens p2p is meant for private use amonst friends.

To be a 100% safe you must connect with friends only.

However, even if you connect to someone you know your shared or downloaded files are NOTLINKED to your IP like in a ordinary p2p application.

Anonymous p2p does not make you invisible it just hides your ip address so if the police really want to get you they will.

See that school trip you were on?
Anonymous p2p software would let that weird guy lurking in the bushes send his twisted pics to all his twisted friends over the net.

Free speech is a crazy 2 way street. Discuss.

Default Free Speech

One persons freedom is anothers tyrany so a line has to be drawn on what is allowed and what is not. Society draws that line.

Anonymous p2p does not make users invisible it just hides ip address therefore while it would stop an organisation like Davenport and Lyons from send threating money demanding letters to thousands of file sharers.

It would not stop the police arresting someone sharing illict material.

It is not magic just a different form of p2p.

In a way ordinary bit torrent and private sites have less scrutiny as only members can see what is traded although their ip addresses are visible.

Anonnymous p2p is public although it hides ip addresses.

That my two cents.

Society may draw that line, but anonymous p2p removes it.
As far as I understand it (which may be wrong) networks like freenet distribute content to everbody, meaning you might have questionable content on your PC without your knowledge or consent.
