Default Is Itt legal to Dowownload Shows that you Pay for from CAble Companys? - USA

I am just wondering if it is legal to download already purchased shows.

For example I have HBO.. on hbo there is a show called trueblood. .. Kinda wierd but Rogue gets naked so its not that Bad..

anyway haha .. If I miss a episode and I download from a torrent. Could they give me a copyright infringement notice for something I am already subscribed to?

Common sense would tell me im screwed, That it doesnt matter if you subscribe to every channel and everything that you would potentially download is on cable. If you download the show your still going to get pounded in the taint with a large corporate infringement letter.

Whats your thoughts?

You know how the corporations are. No matter how you try to word it justify it (and may be right) you're just plain stealing from them. But that's OK we are pirates. Come on it makes sense they have a lot we don't have enough, take what you can to balance it out...

None of us here are pirates. I have no idea why you would make such an accusation. Anyway, yes, it is probably illegal in your government to download shows you watch on tv, unless a show gives you particular consent to do so. Remember, you don't own any rights to the show just because you can watch it on a cable feed. What you pay for is feed access. As a side note, it may still be illegal in your country of residence to record tv onto VHS tape. Many, many, many of the arguments being made right now by the music and movie industry reps are identical to those made back in the advent of recordable home media back when VHS and Cassette tapes first came on the scene. Some things never change.

Perhaps 10 years from now, if you told your children that you had to plug a cord into your computer to get to the internet or at best a close range wireless network, they'll probably ask if you also rode dinosaurs to work. The answer, of course, will be yes. After all, wouldn't that be badass?

wel they are not going to put u in jail... at best a nasty letter would be sent to u... if u have money u can fight them... if u have no money it doesnt realy matter then...
there new digital copyright law will get thrown out if it ever goes in front of the supreme court... but the issue is it is a bad law enforced until such a time...the intent of the copyright law is to protect the inventors from someone else making a profit on their creation... u dling and watching a movie does not violate that... the new dml say that each time a person listens to or watches a movie so much money needs to be paid for that event... its not consitutional... it does not fit within the relm of copyright laws...they by real law need to prove u damaged them... their law says u are guilty by implication... it is a law howerver it is illegal... they bribed congress to pass a bill that doesnt make it constitutional though...
