Default Do you buy CDs?

Do you buy CDs?

Usually I will download an album first and if it becomes a favourite I will buy it eventually. If it's terrible I will delete it. I try to buy the Japanese version if possible because they often have bonus tracks and the Obi is a great addition to a loved CD.

The last time I bought a CD on impluse I didn't like it and it felt like such a waste of money (£25 on MusicStack). It was rare and I couldn't find it any other way, but I won't be doing that again unless I know the artist and nobody is sharing it and I can't even preview song samples.

I don't think there is anything immoral about this "try before you buy" method or if you don't buy the CD at all. Nobody wants to spend money on media they don't like.

Prefer to keep my money for other things, I know stuff where my money would be put at better use. Plus to discover artists of all over the world nothing beats online downloading.

I don't, not anymore. If I find a band that I would like to support I try to attend to their concerts or buy a T-shirt or something. Just as Greg said: when it comes to find new groups, nothing beats downloading!

Default used only

I'll browse the racks at used cd shops - just like browsing through lists of torrents.
We have a great store in town. The staff puts pretty detailed descriptions and explanations on lots of stuff I otherwise would overlook (hard to choose based on genre and an album cover) - again just like a good torrent site.

Huh, and there's usually a bunch of folks talking music by the cash register.

I didn't start writing this thinking about the link between business models! Thanks brain.

Most of my favorite music isn't widely available on CD, so no, I never buy any

not all the times, i mean It depends on the featured artist, if i really like the artist I'm going to buy his CD but if i just simply like the song I'd say I'll just down load the song only..

Anymore, my main reaction to a good song I hear (which is becoming less and less often) is: Hear it on the radio, DL the rest of the CD, and then buy it if the rest is at least decent. Anymore, I liken buying a CD "blind" (i.e. unlistened to) is like buying toilet paper only to find out half my roll has been used already.

The no-return policies so many stores have now make it impossible to return a turd CD, so I figure it's the best way to be selective.
